ASTA CAP INFORMATION

The American String Teachers Association Certificate Advancement Program (ASTA CAP) provides a comprehensive curriculum and program of examinations designed to serve string teachers and their students in the United States (American String Teachers Association). The ASTA CAP establishes and defines national goals for string students at all levels. Students are evaluated on technical and musical achievements, receiving a written comments and grade, and awarded with a certificate for successful completion of each level.

There are two types of exams for ASTA CAP: at the state level, here in Oregon (virtual for 2021) and at the national level (virtual). For the national exam, please go to www.astastrings.org to obtain further information.

Students are judged on technical and musical preparedness at specific levels (Foundation Level to Level 10) by an OR ASTA examiner.

• Level 3, 4, 5:    $47
• Level 6 & 7:      $58
• Level 8, 9, 10:  $70

When registering online:

You will need your teacher's name, ASTA member number, Phone, and Email, and the correct ASTA CAP Level (verify with your teacher, as additional fees will incur if registration needs to be amended).
